User Experience (UX) design is vital to making products and services look and feel good. While an application, website, or software must be attractive to the end user, developing a solution that meets the user’s needs and provides a pleasant experience is more important. As it stands, there are two paths that UX designers follow:

• Providing a fulfilling experience when users interact with the User Interface (UI). The overall result of a great user experience is improved customer satisfaction.
• Helping propel the end user down the appropriate path by having a layout that stimulates a targeted response.

To ensure that these two paths have equally great outcomes, UX designers pursue five strategic UX goals:

1. Empathizing with the end users’ emotional output towards an application, website, or software.
2. Define the user’s workflows and potential goals.
3. Ideating on different strategic solutions.
4. Form habits by following design standards.
5. Promote active user engagement and feedback.

These five goals are part of a design methodology called Human Centered Design. They are tailored to many aspects of design including UX Design, UI Design, Interaction Design and User Research.
