Reston, Virginia, December 11, 2009 – Unissant, Inc. (formerly b.i.methods), (an 8a/SDB company)  announced today that it has been appraised as fully compliant at Maturity Level 3 with the Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development (CMMI®-DEV) version 1.2.  The CMMI rating is being used as a pre-requisite and an evaluation factor for the acquisition of military and government programs with significant systems and software engineering content.

The rating is conferred on companies that have established effective and well-defined organization standards and project management processes that meet vendor requirements for providing mission-critical and industrial application products to the federal government.

This accomplishment greatly enhances Unissant’s competitive positioning as a leading 8(a) company providing  highly engineered, complex products supporting the government’s dynamic requirements.

We are extremely honored to have achieved this prestigious evaluation.  This is illustrative of our commitment to sustained process improvement and further demonstrates our ability to deliver quality solutions to our clients,” stated Unissant President and CEO, Manish Malhotra.

Unissant’s Chief Information Officer, Eric Hartung noted, “Our customers are government agencies and companies with mission critical systems.  By adhering to CMMI processes and best practices, we are responsive to their software requirements and quality control initiatives.”

Conformance to the 17 process areas prescribed by the SEI CMMI Capability Level 3 was appraised using the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) approach.  The SCAMPI method involves the examination of many types of evidence as well as interviews with program leaders; quality assurance and configuration management personnel; and organization and project practitioners to demonstrate standard processes are being followed.

Unissant has implemented the CMMI processes and is managing software projects and developing software consistent with CMMI Maturity Level 3 goals and activities across the organization.
